The end of a nightmare that began with Florio continued with Mcgrevy and was exacerbated by Corzine
These guys inspired the remake of the Clinton phrase, "It's the Economy Stupid." Into :
"It's the CORRUPTION stupid~!!"

Re: Thank god
Wed, November 4, 2009 - 9:56 AMdo you really think a guy like Christie hasn't broken laws????
not that Corzine was a saint, but Christie is no better, maybe worse.
It would be nice if we had an honorable guy...like McCain...but Christie is just another tool of the political machine...gonna give sweet deals to his business pals and could not care a jot about anything else.
What folks don't understand is that a guy like Christie is really not a Republican or conservative. He's just a guy out for himself - period.
Not that Corzine was much better.
Florio, on the other hand, was a decent guy. Former Marine, honorable guy. People hate him because he actually told the truth, that the state needed more money.
This idea that taxes are the enemy is just spin. The politicians create that lie so they can use it to get elected.
Taxes are just fees...so that we can have police, fire, keep the bridges safe, etc. This idea that we can just cut and gut everything is just a lie...and it messes everything up.
That lie is why all sorts of services stink...and you can't get basic information from a government agency. Because they cut to the point that nothing can get done.
Everyone is getting so sick these days? One reason...no more health inspectors. So, we save a few pennies on their salary and then lose millions in health care costs (not to mention a few folks dropping dead).
Politics in this country has become a high school football game between right and left wing. And that is ruining things for everyone. The right is correct sometimes and the left is correct sometimes. But this vicious competition is destroying the whole country...because the only thing that gets done is fighting...and no real help for people. And that includes right wing things...like a proper national defense, not just left wing things like services for the poor.
Check out CDI - Center for Defense Information...by all former top generals in the military. Read their criticisms of policy...and all these guys are Republicans.
The basic thing missing in politics is honesty, not more right wing politics or more left wing politics.

Re: Thank god
Thu, November 5, 2009 - 11:53 AMHe's not a fucking commie.
That one thing recommends him famously
Taxes are the enemy. Government is the enemy. That's one of the things Bush got terribly wrong. He saw government as a good thing. More = better. He was wrong.
Some time ago we as a people have gone from holding our public servants accountable to calling them authorities and kow towing to them.
Thomas Jefferson and the Founding Fathers understood that the Second Amendment was to ensure that the people would always have the latest and greatest military weaponry to stand as a last ditch check against government excess. And look at what we did with citizen power. We cut our balls off tossing liberty in the rubbish in the name of safety and ended up with neither.
Ever notice that when government gets bigger nothing good comes of it?

Ben Franklin: "There never was a good war or a bad peace."
The Second Amendment, so widely thrown around, is rarely actually quoted, "a militia being necessary for the common defense, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."
It has to do with the citizens being able to organize a militia to repel Indian attacks, not private ownership of weapons generally.
The government is the enemy? Of whom? We are the government. We are our own enemies? Well, yeah, I guess so, if you want to put it that way. When we surrender to sin, instead of obeying God and being honest, kind, caring and etc...then yeah, we clearly become our own worst enemies.

Fri, November 6, 2009 - 12:59 PMThat well regulated militia crap needs to be understood taking the punctuation into consideration.
Would you like to have a copy of what may well be the most scholarly opinion on second amendment jurisprudence of which I know?
